Families and Guests

Handicap Seating

Handicap seating areas have been provided for this commencement ceremony, which are designated by the blue and white handicap attendant tape. Space is limited; therefore, we can only allow one escort per special needs guest. This area, like all commencement guest seating, is first-come, first-served. Volunteers will be on hand the morning of commencement for assistance. For questions regarding handicap seating contact the Wheelwright Box Office at 843-349-2787.

 Hearing Impaired Services

A guest who is deaf or hearing impaired is recommended to sit in the designated section 105 in view of the American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter on stage. Interpreters will not sign while graduate names are being read. Assisted listening devices are available for use inside the HTC Center. These can be borrowed from the Chant 411 service table located at the Gate 1 entrance of the HTC Center. A photo ID will be required to check out equipment.

 Accessible Parking and Mobility Assistance

Disabled parking for the commencement ceremony will be located in front of the HTC Center. Parking attendants will be able to provide directions to drivers needing accessible parking. A state issued handicap tag is required for disabled parking. Designated handicap golf cart shuttles will be available to transport disabled/elderly guests, who park in general parking, to the HTC Center.

 Handicap Drop-off Area

Disabled/elderly passengers may be dropped off at a designated location in front of the HTC Center. For saftey concerns, please do not drop off passengers in the middle of the road or curbside as this will increase traffic congestion.

Coastal Carolina University is committed to accommodating those with special needs. If you need special services, please call the Office of Special Events in advance so that we can accommodate you. Contact us by phone at 843-349-2811 or by email at events@coastal.edu.
