Honor Stoles

The academic honor stole is a white satin stole that bears the University seal on one side and your Latin academic honors or program recognitions in script on the other side. Both the seal and script are custom embroidered. To be eligible to wear an academic honor stole for graduation you must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA, have completed at least 60 hours of my college coursework here at CCU and be graduating with a Bachelor's degree (Graduate students are not eligible for Latin Academic Honors). Graduate candidates who are memebers of the following programs may also be eligible to receive an honor stole: Honors Program, Jackson Scholar, Wall Fellow or Swain Scholar.

All students who meet the minimum GPA requirement and the 60 hour requirement will receive an email from Dr. Tankersley notifying them of eligibility. If you did NOT receive this email and believe that you might be eligible, please contact Ms. Stacy Wyeth (swyeth@coastal.edu) in the Registrar's Office.

Stoles with one script are $45. Each additional script is an additional $5.

To order your honor stole, please visit coastal.edu/odk and complete the online order form. Pay online via debit or credit card. If you prefer to pay in cash or check, you can submit payment to ODK's faculty advisor (Brittain Hall 340) by November 7, 2014. The deadline to order and pay for your honor stole is November 7, 2014. No late orders will be accepted.

When the honor stoles are ready, you will receive an email from ODK faculty advisor, Dr. Tankersley (htankers@coastal.edu), giving you the pick-up day, time and location. However, note that stoles are generally distributed during the Monday - Friday just preceeding Commencement. Please bring a picture ID with you to pick-up your stole.

Notes on Protocol

Caps should be worn at all times, except during the benediction and National Anthem, when gentlemen should remove their caps. The tassel is worn over the right temple. When all degrees have been conferred the president will make an announcement; graduates may then move their tassels over to the left side.
