Programs Offered

The Computer Science department at Coastal Carolina University offers several programs of study for students to choose from. The department offers two tracks towards a degree in Computer Science, a minor in Computer Science, as well as a dual degree partnership with Clemson University.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Theoretical Track
ABET Comuputing Accreditation CommissionThis track requires additional courses in computer science, mathematics and the sciences. This option is designed to prepare students for graduate work in Computer Science and for computer related careers in the industry. This option has been accredited by the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700.


Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Information Systems Track
This track requires additional courses in computer science, information systems, and business administration. This option is designed to prepare students for graduate work in Informational Systems and for related positions in business and industry. See Required Courses.

Minor in Computer Science
The Computer Science minor is designed to give Non-CS majors a well rounded understanding of the field of Computer Science. After completing the minor, they will be able to effectively apply Computer Science to their own major. See Required Courses.

Engineering Dual Degree Program with Clemson University
The Engineering Dual Degree program offers students the opportunity to begin their academic career by pursuing a Bachelors degree at Coastal Carolina University while preparing for an Engineering degree from Clemson University. The student will spend three years at Coastal Carolina University majoring in one of four degrees. The student will then spend two years and one summer at Clemson University majoring in one of eight engineering degrees that is compatible with their major at Coastal Carolina University. While at Clemson University, the student will complete the remaining courses needed for their Coastal Carolina University degree. More Information.
