Dez Cordas is a musical duo featuring Craig Butterfield on double bass and Matthew Slotkin on guitar.
Craig Butterfield is
assistant professor of double bass and jazz studies at the University
of South Carolina. He has toured the world as a jazz artist as well
as a classical soloist and clinician. During 2004 and 2005, Butterfield
toured as a member of Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau band, performing
at venues in New York, London and in Asia.
Matthew Slotkin, an acclaimed guitarist, teacher and
scholar, has appeared in leading venues throughout North America,
Europe, Asia and Australia. He has performed numerous premieres of
works by composers including John Anthony Lennon, Scott Lindroth
and many others. Slotkin directs the guitar programs at Mansfield
University and Bloomsburg University. He has given master classes
at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the University of Melbourne
and the Alexandria Guitar Festival.

Taking its title from the classic drawing text by Bernard Chaet, this exhibit celebrates Chaet's important pedagogical contribution to drawing instruction and focuses on the continued relevance of drawing from observation for the contemporary artist. The survey features archival student drawings from Yale University, personally selected by Chaet, as well as current work by former Chaet students, including John Hull, chair of the Studio Art Department at the College of Charleston.

The celebrated Cambridge University American Stage
Tour (CAST) is making its annual tour of the Eastern United States.
This year, 16 of the most talented directors, producers, actors and
technicians from the University of Cambridge are presenting Shakespeare's
comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Following the fortunes
of four lovers, three outlaws, two clowns and a dog, the play is
a witty discourse on the themes of youth and immaturity, loyalty
and betrayal.

Coastal Carolina University's bands and chamber ensembles will present the Fifth Annual Spectrum Concert. Groups performing include the Flute Choir, the Sax Ensemble, STRYKE Taiko Drums, C-PAN (steel drum band), Jazz After Hours and the Symphonic Band. The program will include jazz, calypso and other world music. The Symphonic Band will perform selections from the hit movie Superman and conclude with the rousing National Emblem march.

Levy, one of the original members of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones,
