Welcome to the Spadoni College of Education. The primary goal of the Spadoni College of Education is to train outstanding teachers. The faculty of the Spadoni College has a strong record of excellence in preparing teachers for America's Pre K-12 classrooms. Many Coastal Carolina University education graduates have been recognized as the best teachers in their schools and districts.
More than 750 students are currently majoring in education programs here at Coastal Carolina University. The Spadoni College offers undergraduate programs in early childhood education, elementary education, middle level education, and special education-learning disabilities. Graduate programs include the Master of Arts in Teaching degree; the Master of Education degree with specializations in early childhood, elementary and secondary education; and two new Master of Education degree programs in leadership and in learning and technology.
Student success is the chief focus of Spadoni College faculty and administrative staff. They have our students' best interest at heart and strive to provide the best possible instruction and guidance. Our faculty members are distinguished both as teachers and scholars. They are known and respected for their work in the classroom, for their research and scholarship, and for their commitment to community service. In 2008-2009 alone, our faculty members have published five books, received more than $300,000 in external grants, published articles in scholarly journals, and presented research at 30 regional, national and international conferences.
The Spadoni College of Education honors its public outreach mission through its Biddle Center for Teaching, Learning and Community Engagement. The Center sponsors a substantial mentoring program with K-12 schools in Horry and Georgetown counties, as well as other programs that benefit area children. We are especially excited about the LIFE program, which will starting its 5th year. The Spadoni College is an official site of the National Writing Project, and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
