COGNITIVIST THEORIES

One of the historical criticisms of behavioral learning theory is that it describes only observable behaviors and not the activities that take place inside the mind of the learner.

Cognitivist theory rejects the behaviorist notion that the environment is the primary influence in learning, favoring instead a mental processing model that views knowledge as symbolic, where learning occurs by organizing and relating stored information structures.
