Instructional Technology and Educational Leadership faculty have partnered with Horry County Schools to examine the efficacy of iPads as administrative tools. In August, HCS Technology officials launched a new program delivering Apple iPads to every school principal in the district. Spadoni College of Education faculty members, Jeremy Dickerson, Greg Geer, Corey Lee, and Joe Winslow have collaborated with district officials to plan a systematic evaluation of the project. "We are extremely pleased to have an opportunity to partner with Horry County Schools on this initiative," said Dickerson, "advances in mobile technology have evolved so rapidly, for a district to adopt a consumer product like the iPad for the serious work of a school principal, that's a very subversive vision. Public education has rarely been the petri dish of technical innovation, so we're excited to explore the iPad's utility through the eyes of the school principal."
Initial findings from this investigation will be presented at the annual conference for the international Society of Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) in Nashville, Tennessee in March.
