Joe Oestreich featured in Up for Discussion Series at Burroughs & Chapin Art Museum
On Tuesday, October 14, 2008, Joe Oestreich, assistant professor of English, will read his essay, "The Low Season," which was published in The Cimarron Review, about a vacation he and his wife spent in Mexico financed by attending timeshare sales pitches. Discussion topics at the session may include how to turn life experiences into written work, how we define success and what life is like for people who make a living in the tourist industry. Oestrich, who joined the University faculty in 2008, is a creative nonfiction specialist whose essays have appeared in Esquire, Sports Illustrated and many other magazines and journals.
All Up for Discussion literary events are free and open to the public. The Art Museum is located at 3100 S. Ocean Blvd, next to Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach. Parking is free.
