110 Introductory Portuguese I. (3)
For students who want to start learning the third most widely-spoken European language in the world.  Very suitable for those who have a background in Spanish, French, or Italian, but designed for beginners. Emphasis on listening comprehension, speaking, and understanding the culture.  Focus on Brazil.  Students will work via e-mail with partners in Brazil.  Instructor is native Brazilian and incorporates business culture into lessons.

120 Introductory Portuguese II. (3) (Prereq: Portuguese 110 or by placement)
Continued development of the skills acquired in PORT 110, with emphasis on listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural information.  Focus on Brazil and on developing strategies for communicating across cultures.  E-mail projects with Brazilian partners continue.  Same instructor as PORT 110.

130 Introductory Portuguese III. (3) (Prereq: Portuguese 120 or by placement)
Further development of the skills acquired in PORT 120, with emphasis on listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural understanding and interpretation.  Focus on Brazil.  Continued development of strategies for better communicating across cultures.  Continuation of e-mail projects with Brazilian partners.  Same instructor as PORT 120.
