College of Humanities and Fine Arts

Proposal for New Course:

ENGL 685 Adolescent Literature. (3)  Course is designed to introduce the various issues which have encouraged the proliferation of modern critical views within the field and to enable students to use theory effectively across a wide range of texts in the classroom.

Rationale:  ENGL 685 is needed because ENGL 485, Literature for Adolescents, is not a graduation requirement for English majors in the undergraduate program.  Therefore, ENGL 685 might be the only course in adolescent literature that a future teacher enrolled in the MAT program might be able to take.
