The minimum insurance requirements vary depending if you are a J1 or F1 status international student. J1 students are in the United States for an exchange program and are generally here from one semester to a year. F1 students have chosen Coastal Carolina University as their school of choice and are degree seeking.

$50,000 or greater major medical benefit (per accident or injury).
$7,500 repatriation benefit.
$10,000 medical evacuation benefit (to his or her home country).
Medical deductible not to exceed $500 (per accident or illness).

$25,000 repatriation benefit.
$50,000 medical evacuation benefit (to his or her home country).

Beginning the fall semester of 2007, all international student-athletes must purchase insurance through the Coastal Carolina University athletic department. It is important to purchase this insurance before arriving to the United States.
