Coastal Carolina University's history department is currently recording oral histories of residents at the Lakes of Litchfield retirement community in Litchfield, SC.  These oral histories will be transcribed for the Department of History archives and used to create an on-line digital resource for students and researchers, making transcriptions available to both residents and their families and the community as a whole.  We also hope to film many of these interviews to produce a documentary film based on themes and topics that emerge.  This film, which also will be archived, will create a community dialogue when presented via programs developed by CCU and the WaccamawCenter for Cultural and Historical Studies.  This project is made possible by grant funding from the The Humanities Council (SC) and Waccamaw Center for Cultural and Historical Studies of Coastal Carolina University.
