Sports Medicine Minor
Courses
in the minor will assist students in developing the skills essential to
conduct programs dealing with prevention, evaluation, care, and rehabilitation
of sport-related injuries.
Note: Completion of this minor does NOT allow students to sit for
the NATA certifying exam. Students seeking certification as an athletic
trainer must complete an accredited, full curriculum program.
Required courses for the Sports Medicine Minor (30 credit hours):
- BIOL 232 / 242 and labs: Human Anatomy
and Physiology I & II (8 credits)
- HLED 121: Personal and Community Health (3 credits)
- HLED 235: Advanced Emergency Care and First Aid (3 credits)
- HLED 404: Nutrition (3 credits)
- PHED 401: Kinesiology (4 credits)
- PHED 402: Exercise Physiology (3 credits)
- PHED 404: Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries (3 credits)
- PHED 440: Advanced Athletic Training (3 credits)
