HTC Honors Housing

Honors housing provides the opportunity to live in an academic environment that supports the emotional, social and personal growth of our honors students.

Chanticleer Hall Honors DormHonors housing affords students the opportunity to interact both socially and academically while encompassed in a quiet, tranquil setting, yet within close distance of all campus activities. Resident Advisers (RAs) are veteran CCU students and provide informal mentoring and assistance to residential students. In addition, there is a Community Coordinator who is a full-time live in professional and supervises the RAs and serves as an additional resource for students.

First-year honors students are required to live in honors housing; (students accepted into the program in their second semester at Coastal stay in their previous housing).

The following groups of students are not expected to live in Honors first-year housing:

  • Local students who will be living with family off campus.
  • Student athletes whose teams live together in a community sponsored by Athletics.
  • Members of another Living/Learning community, such as SeaFloor, TEACH, PGM, etc. These students should coordinate with Honors Office and their other community on housing arrangements.
  • Students with accessibility requirements. These students should inform the Honors Office and contact Accessibility and Disability Services to make arrangements.

Honors students will be assigned to the premier double occupancy, or shared, bedrooms within a suite configuration in Chanticleer Hall. Roommate requests will be restricted to University Honors students. Each single-gender suite has a private bathroom for its residents and private, swipe-card access. Each floor in the honors community will have a RA, one or two quiet study rooms and a community living-room style lounge.
