Opportunities

Spring Break in Paris (March 12-21, 2010).

20 students signing up for either Honors 450 (The City as Text and Context) or History 450 (The City in European History) during the Spring 2010 semester may wish to consider conducting a portion of their research in Paris during Spring Break.

The Program will cost approx. $2,300.00 and include: airfare, airport to hotel shuttle, double occupancy accommodations in a three-star hotel, five-day museum pass, weekly metro pass, two group dinners, evening boat ride, Eiffel Tower visit, Paris Sewer visit, and one evening at the Bastille Opera.

Friday, March 12 - Departure from Myrtle Beach. Destination Paris, France

Saturday, March 13 - Morning arrival in Paris. Lunch, early afternoon nap; afternoon boat-ride on the Seine River; and group dinner in Latin Quarter.

Sunday, March 14 - 10:45 am. Purchase lunch from the Market at Bastille; picnic at Place De La Concorde; visit the Arch of Triumph (L’Orangerie rain alternative). Afternoon Montmartre and Sacré Coeur site visit. Evening walk along Rue de Lappe.

Monday, March 15 - 10:30 am. Ile St. Louis, Notre-Dame, Sainte Chapelle. Crèpe lunch on Left Bank. Afternoon Eiffel Tower visit. Bus #69 pick up at Rue Rivoli to group dinner at Café de l’Industrie.

Tuesday, March 16 - 9:00 am. Morning visit to the underground Catacombs, lunch, and afternoon Paris Sewer Tour. Late afternoon Site Project.

Wednesday, March 17 - 10:30 am. Morning visit to Place de Vosges, Hotel Sully, and lunch on the rue des Rosiers. Afternoon visit to the Pompidou Museum. Afternoon Site Project.

Thursday, March 18 - 10:30 am. Lunch from the Market at Bastille. Day trip to Versailles.

Friday, March 19 - 10:30 am. Louvre Museum. FREE AFTERNOON. Evening: quick dinner in Bastille area and 8 pm Opera or Ballet at the Bastille Opera.

Saturday, March 20 - Lunch, Tuileries Gardens, and Musée d’Orsay visit. Afternoon Site Project. Final dinner together.

Sunday, March 21 - 7 am departure for the USA; evening arrival in Myrtle Beach.
