The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Coastal Carolina University is an expanding unit providing academic programs, service, and research in the dynamic fields of health, exercise/physical activity, sport studies, and recreation/leisure.
 The Department is currently home to four academic majors that serve approximately 800 undergraduate students. The department’s mission is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes for 21st century leadership in the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
