Marc Chesanow holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Memphis in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree from the Eastman School of Music in Double Bass performance. He has studied with world-renowned soloist James VanDemark, John Chiego from the University of Mermphis, Louis Kosma from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, James Clute from the Minnesota Orchestra as well as others. He is a former member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and was bassist at The Alabama Theatre for five years. In addition to his teaching at Coastal Carolina University, Marc is currently Music Director for Legends in Concert in Myrtle Beach. He also performs with the Long Bay Symphony. An avid jazz musician, Marc has studied jazz bass with Rufus Reid, Michael Moore and Tim Goodwin as well as jazz composition with Rayburn Wright and Bill Dobbins. His arrangements have been performed by the Long Bay Symphony and the Charleston Symphony. In 1993, Marc was awarded a Grammy award in the Student Jazz/Big Band category. Marc has performed with many artists including Rod Stewart, Bernadette Peters, Isaac Hayes, Maureen McGovern, Eddy Arnold, the Marvelettes, Joel Grey, Tommy Tedesco, The Moody Blues plus many others.
