Cynthia Port (BA, Barnard College; MA, Columbia University; PhD, University of Pennsylvania) is an Associate Professor of English in Modern and Contemporary British and Anglophone Literature and co-editor of the journal _Age, Culture, and the Humanities_. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Port has been at Coastal since 2007. She teaches courses in British and Irish literature, modernism, literary and cultural theory, theories of gender and sexuality, postcolonial literature, time in literature, and age studies, among others. Recent publications include "No Future? Aging, Temporality, History, and Reverse Chrolologies" (_Occasion_ 4, 2012) and "'Violent and Sentimental by Turns: The Gendered Discourses of Mike Gold" (_Shofar_, forthcoming). She is working on a book entitled _Dangerous Ages: Modernist Women against a Culture of Youth_, which centers on aging and value in the work of British women writers of the 1920s and ‘30s. |
