Daniel J. Ennis holds a Ph.D. from Auburn University, an M.A. from Appalachian State University, and a B.A. The College of Charleston.
He is a former Co-Director of the Honors Program, and has served as Interim Associate Dean of the Edwards College and as the Chair of the Department of English. He is active in student study abroad, and has helped lead students on trips to London, Oxford, Paris, Amsterdam, Heidelberg and Dublin.
As a scholar, his focus is British literature, and he has published books and articles on the poets Christopher Smart and Lord Byron, and on the playwrights Richard Brinsley Sheridan and John Dryden. He has also published articles on academic administration and assessment, and is currently working on a book about the historical development of the London stage.
He has taught composition, literature surveys, graduate classes in literature and culture, and the English Major capstone course. He joined the Coastal faculty in 1999.
