Bridges
is an on-line scholarly journal of interdisciplinary studies
produced annually in conjunction with Coastal Carolina
University's "Celebration of Inquiry" conference.
This refereed journal seeks to provide a forum for exploring
issues and ideas that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries,
thereby situating knowledge in an expanded context of creative
and integrative thought. Like the Conference from which it
originated, Bridges represents an effort to redefine
and enhance academic community by bringing together a wide
range of intellectual
perspectives in the arts, sciences, business, education and
humanities in a rich discussion around a common theme. In drawing
upon presentations from the Conference as well as external
submissions, emphasis in selection will be placed on those
contributions which most originally and/or creatively respond
to the conference theme and to the journal's interdisciplinary
focus.
An open forum on the Celebration of Inquiry journal project
will be held in conjunction with the conference next February.
The Editorial Committee is presently developing guidelines
for submissions and reviewers in preparation for recruiting
external members of the Bridges Editorial Board. Recommendations
for prospective reviewers are welcome and may be submitted
to any member of the Editorial Committee: Maria Bachman, Sara
Brallier, Robert Burney, Teresa Burns, Michael Campbell, Allison
Faix, Michael Gilbert, Marjorie Metts, Jo-Ann Morgan, Donald
Rockey, Melanie Schuessler, and Yoav Wachsman.
A special word of thanks to Bob Burney and Bob Nale (Wall
College of Business) and Marjorie Metts (Center for Effective
Teaching and Learning) for their contributions to the Committee’s
work.
