About the 2010 Conference Theme

This year’s theme is "Meeting the Challenges of our Times: Risks, Responsibilities and Rewards." It reflects many global concerns such as the economy, national security and ethical practices that have affected our world, while also focusing on our personal issues that motivate us to think through the key elements of our decision-making.

Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.
~Joseph Campbell

The Celebration of Inquiry Conference continues to provide the opportunity for the entire campus community and external community to share their insights and successes as well as to introduce their concerns and challenges through undergraduate research presentations, panel discussions, demonstrations, lectures, exhibits, poster sessions, creative expression and forum.

The greatest challenge to any thinker is stating the problem in a way that will allow a solution
~Bertrand Russell

Each annual theme is created by a committee of faculty, staff and students to be far-reaching enough to connect to topics in a variety of fields and disciplines and to be inspirational in cross-disciplinary approaches. For example, some potential topics for session proposals in 2010 may be:

  • The current recession and how it challenges us
  • Affecting change in federal and local governments
  • Going "green" to save our environment
  • Preparing for the threat of a pandemic
  • The future of stem cell research
  • (Un)Ethical behaviors in the workplace
  • "Facebook" and other internet communities
  • Security threats: identity theft, online security, privacy issues
  • Improving our educational system
  • Leaders and leadership
  • Lessons from history that help address today’s concerns
  • Building and sustaining relationships, and other topics that relate to the conference theme. You are invited to click the "submit a proposal" and join the Celebration.
