South
Carolina has entered into a Sister State Agreement with
the German state of Rheinland, Pfalz. This agreement
has opened the door to educational possibilities for Coastal’s
students as well as for students from Germany who would
like to study in South Carolina.
Under Coastal’s bilateral exchange
agreement with Fachhochschule Mainz, students will take
business courses in English and study German during
this full-year study opportunity in Mainz, Germany.
Participants will be able to satisfy certain degree
requirements through this program as well as significantly
improve their German language skills. An intensive German
course, which is taught for two weeks before classes
begin, is a required component of this experience. A
dual-degree option is available for those students who
have the appropriate prerequisites.
Coastal’s
agreement with Fachhochschule Bad Honnef allows our
International Resort Tourism students to take course
work in English and study German in Bad Honnef near
Bonn, Germany. Coastal students will be able to study
at Bad Honnef for either one or two semesters.
Summer Study Opportunities
Coastal students may choose to participate
in summer programs offered in Germany. One such program
offers students an opportunity to learn about international
business and consulting from leading experts at the
University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
Another
program offered at the University of Applied Sciences
Mainz gives Coastal’s students the opportunity
to interact with students from all over the world while
studying European Integration with noted expert, Dr.
Ulrich Schuele.
The Universities of Applied Sciences
in Rhineland-Palatinate offer the students of its partner
institutions an opportunity to study “German Language
and Culture.” The purpose of this summer school
program is to help students acquire a basic use of the
German language, a familiarity with the German people
and culture, and, of course, at the same time have fun
while studying.
Summer programs opportunities change
from year to year based on the number of participants.
