ITS News for Faculty and Staff

Faculty/Staff email migrates to Office 365 on Jan. 31

Office 365 is a cloud-based service that provides a single platform for Coastal Carolina University email, and for students, faculty and staff to access the latest versions of Microsoft Office 2016 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) for Windows and OS X, and to get cloud-based mobile apps to access and edit files online including PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone and Android.

The primary and initial phase of the rollout of Office 365 is the email upgrade to Exchange Online. The migration of email for faculty and staff will occur on Jan. 31, 2017. The transition of email for students and alumni will occur on May 15, 2017. Following the migration, all official university communications will be sent and received through Office 365 via the same email address (username@coastal.edu).     LEARN MORE »

Play it safe: protect you account

If you receive a suspicious email or link to an external website, please contact ITS at 843-349-5000 or send an email to 5000@coastal.edu.

Tips to protect your account and mitigate phishing and scam attempts:

  • Please DO NOT open any suspicious email attachments.

  • Please DO NOT give your usernames and passwords via email, phone, or on suspicious websites (CCU will never request user credentials via email or phone).

  • Please DO NOT click on suspicious web links. Roll your cursor over the links received via email and look for inconsistencies.

  • Change your CCU password every 90 days (to change your CCU password, copy the link www.coastal.edu/search/password and paste it in the web browser address field).

  • It is highly advised not to use CCU credentials (usernames and passwords) with external accounts such as online banking or social media sites.‌
