USERNAME AND PASSWORD
- Username and Password
Your username and password will allow you access to network resources, e-mail, secure Web sites and WebAdvisor. Users are responsible for all actions taken with their username; therefore it is extremely important that you do not share your password. A username and password will automatically be generated for new employees once the employee's paperwork is processed by HREO. The account information will typically be available by the next business day. Once processed you can look up your account information at https://www.coastal.edu/search/password/ or go to Wall 105.

"T" and "U" NETWORK DRIVES
- ITS provides and maintains network data storage space that can be utilized by faculty and staff for storing, collaboration and sharing of documents and files. For end users these resources are accessed via the “T” and “U” network drives. If your computer is a Microsoft Windows based system and your computer has been added to “coastal” domain the “T” and “U” drives are automatically created for you when you log in. If your computer is not participating in the domain your IRC can assist you with connecting to network resources.
- The “T” drive is where departmental and public file folders are accessed. Access to departmental folders is limited to department members. Public folders access is determined by the folder’s purpose and function.
- The “U” drive is connected directly to the end user’s personal folder. Every faculty and staff member at the University has a user network folder created for them. A user’s network folder can only be accessed by the owner.
- Users are allowed 250MB of total network (T and U drives) storage space.
- Network drives should be used for storage of files utilized for university business only. Storage of personal (non-university related) data such as photos, music, movies, or other personal data is not supported.
- Advantages to Utilizing Network Drives
- Backup – hardware redundancy and periodic backups of network servers keep data safe. A damaged or accidentally deleted file can be recovered from backup.
- Security – Network servers are more hardened against potential security breaches than desktop or portable computers.
- Accessibility - Files on network drives can be accessed from any computer connected to the University network or remotely with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.
- Facilitate collaboration – Share files from a single source instead of via multiple portable storage devices or e-mail.
