PLACEMENT TESTS
What is a placement test?
Students arrive at Coastal Carolina University with a variety of academic backgrounds. Placement
tests for mathematics and foreign languages (Spanish, French, and German)
have been developed to assist students and advisors as they plan course
schedules. These placement tests provide a suggested starting course in
the particular subject.
Math Placement Guidelines
All incoming freshmen are required to take the math placement test. Transfer
students who do not transfer in credit for a course at or above the college
algebra level are also required to take the test.
Foreign Language Placement Guidelines
You will need your University username and Password in order to take the placement
tests.
Search for your Coastal Carolina University Username
and PIN.
Important Notice!
You are required to take the placement tests prior to attending an Orientation
session during the summer.
Please note that failure to complete the placement tests prior to Orientation
may result in your inability to enroll in a math or foreign language course.
After completing the tests, it would be prudent to print out your placement
results and bring them with you to orientation.
Incoming freshmen are also asked to fill out a fall course preference form that is used by advisors to assist in scheduling classes. Students are encouraged to complete this on-line form at least two weeks prior to attending their orientation session.
