Kimbel Library Services: Success Stories
Accessing Resources...
Dara-Lynn Baker
When I began working as a student assistant at Kimbel Library I was totally unprepared to fall in love with my job and its free resources. My interests grew beyond shelf-reading and my other circulation duties to further exploring how information was organized, managed and provided to a diverse community. As a student, if I wasn't using databases for a research assignment (or referring databases to another student), I would browse CDs and DVDs in the Kimbel Library media collection for my own enjoyment. If there was an item I wanted to borrow that the library didn't own I would request it through interlibrary loan using Kimbel Library ILL or PASCAL Delivers. I've been able to borrow and watch the complete series of Girlfriends and The Wire using our ILL database!
In addition to accessing various items, our library brings Coastal Carolina University students together to kick back and have fun with annual events like De-Stress Fest, National Game Day and the Edible Book Fair!
Another thing to love about Kimbel Library is how gadget-y it has become for CCU students. There are voice recorders, camcorders, USB flipcams, tripods, laptops, iPads and chargers that students can use at their leisure. Since the library extended its equipment checkout period to 24 hours this semester, students can get their work done much more easily without even having to leave their room.
Kimbel Library keeps the CCU community informed, educated and entertained with an excellent staff! As CCU continues to grow and improve, so will the heart of the campus.
