Kimbel Library Services: Success Stories
A Wealth of Knowledge...
Mary Kate Powell
The Health Promotion program strives to prepare its students to be among the most competitive candidates for employment and further academic study. Utilizing the resources that Kimbel Library offers is one way we can achieve that. I have scheduled my Community Health Education Methods class for library instruction with librarians Margaret Fain and Ariana Baker so that the students are informed on what resources are available to them for research projects and also how to utilize those tools.
I was very impressed with the format of the training because the library staff not only explained the information and provided demonstrations, but they challenged my students to be resourceful and apply their knowledge to complete a series of activities right there in the computer lab. Personally, I believe that resourcefulness and critical thinking are two skills that are critical for any student to exhibit for academic success as well as for future endeavors.
Bryan Information Commons is a wonderful new addition to our campus because it provides a great study and work space for students in a comfortable atmosphere! Overall, I have always found the library staff to be very inviting and helpful in providing an excellent variety of resources to both students and faculty.
