Kimbel Library Reserve PoliciesREV. 7/26/2006 General Information: Library reserve collections are established at the request of a faculty member to ensure that all students in his/her classes have equal access to required materials. When establishing a reserve collection, please consider the class size and the amount of material involved BEFORE deciding how many copies of an item should be placed on reserve AND the length of time materials may circulate. In order to view or checkout a reserve, the student must present their current CCU ID Card. Also please note our overdue fine policy, established to ensure prompt return of reserve materials. You may obtain a copy of the reserve form at the circulation desk in the library, or you may choose to fill out and print our online form. Procedure: Reserves may include books, videos, DVDs, CDs, models, scores, etc. Please allow adequate time for library staff to place your reserve items, it normally takes between 2-3 days to put items on the reserve shelves. Personal copies of items may be placed on reserve, but library staff will not assume responsibility for their loss. Reference books will NOT be placed on reserve since they do not circulate and can be expected to be available as needed. A reference librarian must approve any exception to this policy. Articles, pre-tests, and class notes should be made available to students via WebCT. Please contact the TEAL Center for more information ext. 2353. Types of Reserve: The library offers 5 types of reserve. Please select the loan period that will best meet the needs of your class and students. Library Use Only -- may not be taken from the library at any time; subject to recall after 3 hours use. Overnight -- due the next calendar day by closing time. Two Day -- due two calendar days later by closing time. Three Day -- due three calendar days later by closing time. One Week -- due one week from checkout date by closing time. Fine Policy: A fine of $.50 ($5.00 for videos) per day will be charged for each day a reserve item is kept beyond its due date. An item is considered overdue if it is not returned by closing of the day it is due. THERE IS NO MAXIMUM TOTAL FINE FOR RESERVE MATERIAL! The reserve items can be renewed via Internet or by calling the circulation desk (ext.2400) as long as the item is not overdue. Once the item becomes overdue, the late fee must be paid before the item can be renewed. Final Note: In order to view a reserve item, the student must have his/her Current CCU ID Card. These policies are designed to promote maximum access to reserve materials by all students with reserve assignments. We would appreciate your help in announcing these rules to your students and encouraging their cooperation. Please contact the circulation supervisor (ext. 2400) if you have any questions. Thank you for your assistance. Date Last Modified: Feb 11, 2008 Page URL: http://www.coastal.edu |
