The following library services are available: Online ResourcesA large variety of electronic resources are available for students to access from off-campus. Kimbel Library provides various online reference and full text journal databases for research. An extensive collection of e-books is also available through the catalog or directly through the NetLibrary database. Before accessing these resources, users should log in to MyLibrary to identify themselves as CCU students, faculty, or staff. This requires their name and CCU ID number (found on CINO card). Books and Other ItemsKimbel Library is a member of South Carolina's statewide borrowers program, which gives students access to materials from other participating academic libraries in South Carolina. Coastal Carolina University students may obtain one of these cards by presenting their CINO Card at the Kimbel Library circulation desk. To use the card at a participating library, the student must present both their statewide borrowers card and their CINO card. The card is valid as long as the student remains registered at Coastal Carolina University. Students registering for classes on a semester-by-semester basis will need to apply for a new card each semester. A list of participating libraries and their lending policies can be found here.Distance students who either live out-of-state or are a significant distance from participating academic libraries are encouraged to visit their local public library. If the public library does not have sufficient materials, they can utilize the public library's Interlibrary Loan services. In cases where their public library is unable to be of assistance, students may contact Kimbel Library's circulation desk at (843) 349-2400 to arrange alternate access methods. Library InstructionCourse instructors may contact the library to arrange library instruction sessions. Sessions held in Kimbel Library will allow students access to computers and print and electronic resources. Sessions held online or at the Higher Education Centers will focus primarily on the electronic resources.Date Last Modified: Aug 27, 2008 Page URL: http://www.coastal.edu |
