Enjoy unlimited checkout of the Media Collection's classical, jazz, ethnic, rock, soundtrack, and children's titles. Note especially The Ring Disc on CD-ROM, as well as the New World series of historic American music and the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music on CD. Our classic rock titles include many of Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 100 Albums from 1967 to 1987.

Use Media Collection equipment in-house only. Select from audiocassette decks, a caramate, CD players, a DVD player, a slide carousel, televisions, a turntable, and VCRs. Run CD-ROMS and print in color at the multimedia station. Equipment on which to show Media Collection materials in the classroom may be reserved by calling Instructional Media Services at x2084.

Visit remote corners of the earth, bygone eras and the deep reaches of space with the Media Collection's nearly 200 National Geographic maps. With United States Geological Survey (USGS) maps, examine the topography of North and South Carolina. With vintage maps by the same USGS Survey, examine the Atlantic Coast and principal American cities as they were in 1947. Locate other intriguing sites in the Government Document and Miscellaneous map collections. All maps may be accessed by subject-indexed notebook, many by the Online Catalog.

Many of the Media Collection's feature films--including The Gold Rush (1925), Frankenstein (1931), Citizen Cane (1941), Some Like it Hot (1959), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest(1975), Platoon (1986), and Schindler's List (1993)-- appear on the American Film Institute's list of America's 100 Greatest Movies.
