Kimbel Library Statistics

• Added 4,695 cataloged titles to the library collections, of which 3,714 were new purchases this year
• Housed 5,335 music, video and multimedia items
• Subscribed to 345 journals in print and 16,015 online
• Provided access to over 120 research databases
• Provided 332,917 searches in subscribed electronic databases
• Circulated in-library laptops 14,706 times
• Provided 115 computers, including 42 pcs in the library and lab, 39 laptops for checkouts in the library and 34 instructional laptops
• Purchased two digital microfilm machines that incorporate pc capabilities
• Shifted 175,000 volumes for cleaning and re-design projects
• Spent $ 640,000 on library materials of which 84% were recurring costs of serials (print, online subscriptions, standing orders)
• Over 47,000 volumes on the second floor were cleaned of mold, mildew and dust by an external cleaning company
• During the first four months of PASCAL Delivers (www.pascalsc.org) , Kimbel Library processed 554 transactions
• Answered over 30,200 reference questions
• 6810 students attended 334 library instruction and freshmen Year experience (FYE) classes
• Reserved the 8 group study rooms 2873 times
• Reserved the 3 new Presentation rooms 392 times
• A Java City café (AraMark) opened in the library AND
• During the first four weeks of Fall 2007 semester, 19,881 people came into the library and 50 instructional sessions were taught in Kimbel Library!
