New honor introduced on Founders Day

The University Medallion, a new campus recognition that was introduced as part of the 2012 Founders Day event in September, was awarded to retired CCU faculty members Charles Joyner and John Vrooman. The award was created to recognize individuals who have contributed to CCU in one or more of the following areas: service (to education or the community), entrepreneurship, philanthropy and scholarship.

The Founders Medallion was posthumously awarded to H. Franklin Burroughs, a CCU trustee and benefactor; Guy Skipper Cameron, first woman to serve on the Horry County Higher Education Commission; and Charles L. Watson, a CCU supporter and benefactor.
