About the Math Contest

The Math Contest was started in 1979. The purpose of the contest was to promote interest in mathematics among high school students. The Mathematics Advancement Council and the Horry County Higher Education Commission were the sponsors. Students in Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties were invited to participate. The first contest had over 100 students participate.

         GTE and Horry County Higher Education Commission
         Awards: medallions, plaques, certificates, and a scholarship to the Horry County student with the highest score

  • 2001-2004

         Verizon and Horry County Higher Education Commission
         Awards: medallions, plaques, certificates, Texas Instrument calculators, and a scholarship to the Horry County student with the highest score

  • 2005-2009

         AVX and Horry County Higher Education Commission
         Awards: medallions, plaques, certificates, and scholarship to Horry County student with the highest score

  • 2010

         Awards: medallions, plaques, certificates, and scholarship to Horry County student with the highest score

  • 2011-

         Dr. Subhash Saxena
