in person or by submitting a sound file (preferably mp3) by May 1

For email submission, please include
your contact information, instrument/voice, and the name & publisher
of the music on the recording. If you mail a CD, please include a
letter of introduction which includes your contact information and
instrument/voice and a copy of the music on the recording. To schedule
an audition in person, you must provide your name, instrument or voice,
email address, phone number, and date you are requesting. You must
be accepted to CCU with financial
aid application and FASFA

AUDITION
DATES The audition dates listed below are scheduled
to coincide with Saturday
Discovery Day Programs held by the CCU Admissions Office. We highly
recommend that all students attend one of these programs on the day
of the audition.

Electric Bass
- Tenor Madness by Thelonius Monk (Melody and walking bassline at 110-150bpm)
- Short prepared pieces in Funk, Rock, and Latin styles (Soloing in one of them)
Voice
Two songs in contrasting styles from classical or musical theater repertory.
One should be in English and the other can be in a foreign language,
but this is not required. Please send copies of your music at least
two weeks in advance, unless you are bringing your own accompanist.
Winds
All Major Scales
Sight Reading
Prepared piece (3-4 minutes)
Bring two copies of your prepared piece (photocopies are permitted)

you choose to use accompaniment (not required), please send copies of
your music at least two weeks in advance, unless you are bringing your
own accompanist.
Percussion
It is highly recommended that everyone who is interested in auditioning
as a percussion major have at least one private lesson with Professor
Seymour. Suggested audition material for each of the four
required areas:
Keyboard/Mallet Percussion
-Two octaves of all majors scales and arrpegios.
-Solo Marimba Piece (published works only).
-Selected Etudes from "Modern School for the xylophone, marimba, and
vibraphone" by Morris Goldenberg.
Timpani
-tune a selected note on any given drum.
-a prepared piece from "Etudes for Timpani" by Vic Firth.
Snare Drum
-Rudiments(selected from the PAS list of rudiments).
-a prepared rudimental snare selection from "the rudimental cookbook"
by Ed Freytag or something of equal value.
-a prepared concert snare selection from "Contemporary Studies" by Fred
Albright, or "Portraits in Rhythm" by Anthony Cirone.
Drum Set
-Demonstration of the following musical styles in drumset performance:
-Rock,Swing,Latin,and Funk.
All applicants will be asked to demonstrate their
sight reading skills on Keyboards, Snare Drum, and Drum Set.
