Dr. Jeffrey L. Jones, Assistant Professor of Music, is originally from Springfield Missouri. Opera credits include: Papageno in Magic Flute, Belcore in Elixir of Love, Tarquinius in Rape of Lucretia, Marquis de la Force in Les Dialogues des Carmélites, Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Baron Douphol in La Traviata, Bartley in Riders to the Sea (Vaughan Williams), Ariodate in Xerxes, Death in Kaiser of Atlantis (Ullmann), Mr. Gobineau in The Medium, Assan in The Consul and 2nd Nazarene in Salome. Highlights of concert and oratorio solo credits: Passion According to St. John, B Minor Mass, Cantata BWV 21, Cantata BWV 27 (Bach), Requiem (Brahms), Te Deum (Bruckner), Requiem (Fauré), Messe Solennelle (Gounod), Messiah, Dettingen Te Deum (Handel), Paukenmesse, Nelsonmesse (Haydn), Saint Paul (Mendelssohn), Coronation Mass (Mozart), Mass in G (Schubert), Encounters (Schuller) and Serenade to Music (Vaughan Williams).
He has performed with Arizona Opera, Arizona State Lyric Opera Theater, Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Lyric Opera, Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Atlanta Symphony Chamber Chorus, Camerata Singers (at Idaho State University), Capitol City Opera, Carolina Master Chorale, Collegium Vocale, Meridian Chorale, the Phoenix Chorale and the Robert Shaw Chamber Singers. As a member of the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, he participated in three recordings for Telarc Records and performed in two concerts at Carnegie Hall with Robert Shaw. Jeffrey is currently the Artist-in-Residence with the Carolina Master Chorale.
Before joining the music faculty at Coastal Carolina, Jeffrey taught at Grand Canyon University, the Arizona State University Herberger College-at-Large, Arizona State University (graduate teaching assistantship), and served as a voice coach at Arizona State University during the fall of 2006. Jeffrey was awarded a Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance at Arizona State University where he also received a Master of Music in opera performance. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas and is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy.
