Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Sinclair was Choral Director at Pinecrest (NC) High School from 1989-1993.
At CCU, Dr. Sinclair has increased the enrollment in the Concert Choir from 30 to over 50 in three years, as well as increasing the quality and quantity of performances by this group. Each fall, Concert Choir shares a concert with an area high school and performs a major choral-orchestral work in the spring, often with professional soloists, in conjunction with other community or university choral organizations and with Long Bay Symphony. Dr. Sinclair also officially created the CCU Chamber Choir, a small, auditioned ensemble that performs an average of 10-12 times per semester for campus, community, and professional events, in her first year at CCU. The choirs have taken a recruitment tour each year of her tenure.
Dr. Sinclair’s students and choirs have earned superior ratings at North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) choral festivals, have been invited to participate in NC Honors Chorus and other invitational festivals, and have performed at prestigious locations including the Washington National Cathedral, the Lincoln Center, the NCMEA and South Carolina Music Educators (SCMEA) conventions, and at Disneyworld. In 2007. she was selected as a conductor for the MidAmerica Productions Carnegie Hall Concert Series. She was also the invited clinician for the SC ACDA High School Women’s Honor Choir. She has led workshops and reading sessions at professional conferences including the SCMEA convention and the ACDA Southern Division Convention. She has published articles in scholarly journals including the Choral Journal and The North Carolina Music Educator and is in high demand as a guest conductor/clinician and choral adjudicator in the southeast. In her first year at CCU (2005-6), she was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year award. Dr. Sinclair is listed in Who’s Who of American Women, 26th ed. (2007-2008).
