CCU art faculty, students host 'Deck the Halls' exhibit

This skateboard "deck" was designed by Matt Fram and will be on exhibit with others Dec. 14 to 31 at the Coastal Coffee Bar in Conway.
Coastal Carolina University visual arts faculty and students are hosting an opening reception for a "Deck the Halls" skateboard deck design exhibition on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Coastal Coffee Bar at 748 S.C. 544 in Conway. The event is free and open to the public.

The decks (skateboards without wheels) will be on display throughout the month of December and can be viewed from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

Inspiration for this unusual exhibition, featuring one-of-a-kind skateboard decks, originated in an intermediate graphic design course project introduced by Jeff Case, assistant professor of graphic design at CCU. Many of the decks will be available for purchase.

Faculty participating in the show include Case, Armon Means, John Schiro, Easton Selby and Cat Taylor. Student artists include Jazmin Cortes, Christina Cruz, Scott Cullum, Sarah Evans, Matt Fram, Nathan Rood, Nicole Scott, Dave Short, Sarah Swartz, Robert Taylor, Haocun Wang and Stephanie Williams.
