Coastal Carolina University will present Love Your Body Day on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Blanton Park. The annual event, which is intended to raise awareness of body image and health issues, is free and open to the public.
The event will feature an expo from Zumba instructors, free eating disorder screenings by CCU’s Counseling Services, healthy snacks and displays on healthy lifestyles and positive body image. CCU’s Teal Temptation will also give a performance.
Love Your Body Day was conceived by the National Organization for Women (NOW) as a national event that invites citizens to speak out against industries and ads that use negative images, leading women to believe their bodies are imperfect. The aim of the event is to challenge the stereotypes that discriminate against people based on the way they look.
The event is sponsored by the CCU Wellness Coalition. For more information about the event, call Chris Donevant-Haines at 843-349-5022.
