Public forum to discuss health care for all at Coastal

“Health Care For All Americans: A Forum on the Health Care Crisis in the U.S.A” is the topic of a panel discussion on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Coastal Carolina University’s Waccamaw Higher Education Center. The forum is free and open to the public.

Dr. Carol Kirschenbaum of Raleigh, N.C., an advocate for health–related legislation in North Carolina state government, is the featured speaker.

Panel participants are Gail Steinfield, director of Churches Assisting People in Conway; Susan Surret of Baskervill Clinic; and Tami Eldridge, deputy director of Shared Care. Retired physician Bob Yates of New York will moderate the discussion.

The forum is sponsored by Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP), Horry Friends Monthly and Coastal. PNHP is a national organization, founded at Harvard University, with about 12,000 members.

The session will last until 1 p.m. Attendance is free, but tickets must be reserved as seating is limited. Call 349-4032 to reserve a ticket. The center is located at 160 Willbrook Blvd., west of the Hampton Inn off U.S. 17 Bypass in Litchfield.
