Noted local artist Jane Woodward is offering a weekly oil painting course over four months at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center for those who cannot fit a weekly painting class into their busy schedules.

Beginning with a demonstration and recommendations for supplies, supply houses, and a question-and-answer period, the first class will begin students on their first piece to take home and complete. The second class will show how to enhance the work, bring up the light and add texture. Woodward will share secrets for making paintings "pop." Both palette knife and brush techniques will be demonstrated and put into practice.

The class is offered on Thursdays (Jan. 13, Feb. 17, Mar. 17 and Apr. 14) or Saturdays (Jan. 15, Feb.19, Mar. 19 and Apr. 16) from 10 a.m. to noon; each series of four classes is $75. To register or for more information, call 349-4032 or visit any of the four CCU Academic Outreach Centers.
