Coastals Georgetown Center offers bead making class

February 7, 2005

Learn how to sculpt and make your own clay beads at a four-week, noncredit course at Coastal Carolina Universitys Georgetown Higher Education Center beginning Thursday, Feb. 10.

The course, taught by Avery Keatley, is being offered Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon through March 3. The course fee is $35 plus materials.

Participants will use sculpt white beads for painting and later harden the clay beads in an oven. Designing the bead first, based on samples (necklaces, prayer beads, bracelets), students will calculate the number of beads needed for a piece, the shape and sizes. After drying and painting, the beads are lacquered and strung into the students design.

The Georgetown campus is at 4003 S. Fraser St. To register, call 349-4032.
