Coastal presents workshops for financial planning
The Financial Independence, Research & Success Techniques (FIRST) workshops, all held on Wednesday evenings in March, are free and open to the public. They will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in room 318 of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, which is sponsoring the series.
March 2 – “Investing in Mutual Funds” will explore how mutual funds work and how to select the appropriate fund. Gerry Boyles, professor of finance, will be the instructor.
March 9 – “Creating a Winning Portfolio,” with Marvin Keene, assistant professor of finance, will delve into what stocks and bonds are, and how to design an ideal investment portfolio.
March 23 – “Current Tax Issues,” with Linda Henderson, associate professor of accounting and Howard Smith, executive-in-residence, will discuss income and property taxes and how to minimize tax liability.
March 30 – “Managing Personal Finances,” with John Mortimer, assistant professor of accounting, will deal with how to manage personal finances and will provide a quick introduction to Quicken.
