Susan Neville, prize-winning author of both fiction and nonfiction, will give a reading in Wall Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University on Thursday, March 3 at 4 p.m. as part of the ongoing “The Words to Say It: A Visiting Writers Series.” The reading is free and open to the public.

Neville, of Indianapolis, Ind., is the author of four works of creative nonfiction: “Indiana Winter,” “Fabrication: Essays on Making Things and Making Meaning,” “Twilight in Arcadia” and “Iconography: A Writer’s Meditation.” Her prize-winning collections of short fiction include “In the House of Blue Lights,” winner of the Richard Sullivan prize and “Invention of Flight,” winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction. Settled in Indianapolis, Neville teaches writing at Butler

University and in the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers. One critic had this to say about her writing: “Susan Neville’s language shimmers like light coming through colored glass, and her subtle words uncovered the inarticulate longings that burn the hearts of the most ordinary citizens.”

A reception and book signing will follow the reading, and her books will be available for purchase.

Neville is a Nancy Smith Distinguished Visitor-in-Residence Featured Writer at Coastal for the event co-sponsored by the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the Office of Student Activities, and The Cypress Inn. Lisa Johnson, assistant English professor, is coordinating the series.

Next up is a reading by Rosemary Daniell on March 23 at 4 p.m. in Wall Auditorium, and a reading by Conway native Sheri Reynolds on April 7 at 7 p.m. in Wall Auditorium.
