Leader in health field to speak at Coastal Carolina

A national leader in the promotion of healthy lifestyles will talk about the integration of technology in the fields of health and fitness on Thursday, March 3 at Coastal Carolina University. The lecture will be in Wall Auditorium from 2 to 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“Applications of Technology and Measurement to Promote Healthier Lifestyles in Schools and Beyond” is the topic of Beth Kirkpatrick, who will discuss cutting-edge new health programs that are being implemented in schools, community and medical facilities. Kirkpatrick has 20 years of experience teaching health and physical education, and she is nationally recognized for her renowned teaching methods.

Kirkpatrick is the winner of several national and prestigious awards, including the Department of Education’s Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, the Distinguished Leadership Award through the Council on School Leadership, and the NASPE national teacher of the year award. She has worked with numerous college athletic teams as well as with schools and units across the country.
