Coastal Carolina University will present a percussion concert featuring four different ensembles on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

In its second season, Coastal’s Percussion Ensemble promises another tour-de-force performance with steel drums, Japanese Taeko drums, mallet instruments, and all points between representing music from around the world and demonstrating that rhythm is music, and music is universal.

Featured ensembles include the Coastal Taiko group “Strike”; the CCU Percussion Ensemble, Catalyst Percussion Group; the CCU “Grand Strand Pans” Steel Band; and The Epiphany Indoor Drumline.

The bands are under direction of Kurry Seymour, director of percussion studies and Coastal’s assistant band director.

The concert will also feature members of the Coastal music faculty including saxophonist Dan O’Reilly, bassist Steve Bailey and guest conductor Tully.
