CCU campuses offers 80 noncredit courses for spring-summer

March 25, 2005

Eighty noncredit courses are being offered now as the spring-summer 2005 session begins at Coastal Carolina University’s Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield and the Myrtle Beach Higher Education Center in Myrtle Square Mall.

Some 45 classes in the spring and 35 in the summer range from intellectual pursuits (art history, world economic history, area history, travelers’ French and Italian) to the creative (instant piano, appreciating opera, public speaking) to computer technology and gardening. Many art classes are also scheduled, including beginning watercolor, working in stained glass and sculpting, among others.

Costs for the noncredit classes range from $20 (some computer classes) to $275 (sculpting the bust/figure), depending on the subject and materials needed. Several one-day Saturday workshops are offered in April and May ranging from heart-connected public speaking to event-based fundraising.

Most of the classes are available at the Waccamaw Center, and a smaller selection will be held at the Myrtle Beach campus in Myrtle Square Mall. For more information, or to register by credit card, call the Waccamaw Center at 349-4030 or Myrtle Beach Center at 349-4051. The complete list of courses is available at www.coastal.edu/learn.

Course schedules are also available at the center at 160 Willbrook Blvd., Litchfield, just off U.S. 17 and west of the Hampton Inn.
