Vibrations Dance Company of Columbia, S.C., will perform in
Coastal Carolina University's Wheelwright Auditorium on Saturday, Oct.
14 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students under age
18.
The production, entitled "Visions of a People," retrospectively
explores the history of African-American dance and its contribution to,
and influence on, American dance and culture. This performance
highlights the artistic, social and technical evolution of African-
American dance through various styles and genres.
Vibrations is a modern dance group which performs works of modern,
jazz and spiritual dances choreographed and performed by South Carolina
artists. The company is dedicated to preserving, enhancing and
presenting the historical, traditional and contemporary forms of dance,
primarily African-American cultural expression.
Vibrations helps preserve the abundant heritage of South
Carolina's many cultures through performances, community outreach and
educational programs throughout the state.
