J. Kenyon East, the last surviving original founder of Coastal Carolina University, has established an endowed scholarship as part of the 50th Anniversary Initiatives Campaign.

East and his wife Leona created the Joseph Kenyon East Endowed Ethics Scholarship to "support the development of moral character and ethical leadership."

Coastal boasts more than 60 endowed scholarships created by various donors and, for the first time, student recipients were able to meet their benefactors at a reception Thursday evening.
