'Dracula: Ballet with a Bite' coming to Coastal Carolina

October 24, 2005

Columbia City Ballet will perform "Dracula: Ballet with a Bite" on Nov. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University.

Both performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, and $5 for children under 18.

The production has an original score by Thomas Semanski and original choreography by Artistic Director William Starrett. "Dracula" features striking theatrical imagery, atmospheric sets, lavish costumes and evocative lighting.

As Count Dracula, Robert Michalski dances with grace and power. The fear he induces relies on his imposing stoic presence as much as the emblematic cape and fangs.

Prima Ballerina Mariclare Miranda is the newly initiated Lucy who, when trapped by a barrage of Dracula's minions, transforms from sheltered belle to ardent seductress and vamp.

On Nov. 4, Peter Kozak will play Jonathan Harker, Regina Willoughby will play Lucy Westerna, and Jose Serrano will play Arthur Holmwood.

On Nov. 5, Jose Serrano will dance as Jonathan Harker, Mariclare Miranda will be Lucy Westerna and Peter Kozak will play Arthur Holmwood.
