Coastal's Gingerbread House to open for children

November 28, 2005

The Office of Residence Life will host its annual Gingerbread House event Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Woods community across from the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will include free pictures with Santa Claus, children will receive a free gift, and cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

The life-sized Santa’s “workshop” was created and is operated by Coastal’s Residence Life maintenance staff and other volunteer staff members and students. It was the dream of retired maintenance man Edward Brunette to convert an old pump house into a gingerbread house for the community and for children. Each year hundreds of children come to see Santa at Coastal’s own gingerbread house.
